I think this rod is a great value. I have the 10ft one rated for 4 to 8 oz lures and i can really get the baits out there, but i wouldn't consider the rod a serious shark fishing rod. It just seems a little light for me. I haven't caught a shark on it yet, but it feels really good in my hands.

American Rod Smith

I've got the 10' ARS w/309 & 10'tsunami w/209. On both rods I've caught a bunch of bleeders (3'-4' range) feels good, handles well. Caught Bullreds & BigUglies on both and same feeling. I paid twice as much for the tsunami (still my fav), but the ARS (IMHO) is a great rod for the price. BTW, JollyRoger did a comparison somewhere b/n the OceanMaster and the ARS...very good detailed report. BTW, I'm thinking about getting the 12'AR, but definitely am buying couple more 10'ARS.

Good luck, Rodney
