Thinking of heading up soon. I mostly fish the Galveston bay system. Where can you launch on Conroe. Coming up from Friendswood.

830 being crazy is an understatement. Its one of the only free launches and a nice one.
Make sure you have 2 people. One to get the trailer and one for the boat if you go there.
Other launches are $20 now on the lake.
I like lakeview marina on 105 but $20 to launch. Can be worth the $$ on the weekends.
Also, Conroe is almost 100% bulkheaded. Expect it to be rough on the weekends due to boats etc.
Cagle up at the north end of the lake is an option. Think its a state park. Its on 1375 off I45
More stumps and way less boats. Easy to Nav though.

FM830 IS THE only free ramp on the lake. I keep telling myself I'll never return to it, but I'm also not paying $20 to drop a boat in the water.

If you're going on the weekend, bring a lawn chair and a case of beer while you wait in line.

Oh yeah, and if you think Galveston Bay is rough, toss that out the window. Wait until about 10am or so on Conroe and you'll be wishing your were on the bay in 20mph winds instead. It gets ROUUGGGHH

If for whatever reason you decide to put in at Cagle, be very careful. Lots of stumps up that way to ruin your day

I've always liked using Stowaway but only visit Conroe during the week when everyone else is working. The 830 ramp is nice but only use that one during the week and winter months. Also, I've heard that kids will break in vehicles when out of school.

Unless, I am taking the kids to Conroe for swimming. I spent my summer months in salt water.
