Why do you see the certain boat builders using one of the other for a jack plate? I have seen both brands on the same model boats, any pros or cons or is it just what's available?

Ive bought both for new boats and it has come down to availability for me Bobs is cheaper for sure $ wise but both good quality and I have used 2 of the new Seastars (Detweiler style) new kids but ikd design tume will tell how they compare.
I have had neither but am about to get one on a new boat, I hope. I am partial to the idea of no external pumps, just a preference to try to keep things simple and out of the way. I thought the atlas was self contained and was favoring that one. Those of you who has had both, where or what if anything failed on both?
Bobs is awesome, atlas seems ok unless you have a 300hp hanging in it and really digging the seastar i have on my boat now. I think Bobs has the best dash indicator as well. Bobs also comes anodized or you can choose a bunch of different patterns.
I had a bobs for 11 years and replaced a solenoid. It was great. My recent boat has an atlas, we ll see how it does. It is faster though.
Bobs for sure. i have never used an Atlas, but like these other folks are telling you, Bob's is the more reliable choice. Those Atlas plates seem to have their problems
I have owned, run and rigged all 3 the CMC, the Bobs , and Atlas. My current boat has an Atlas it works just as good as the Bobs and I like not having another pump taking up space.
