Need some recommendations on what prop to use. The boat came with a Merc Bravo II 4 Blade 22 and its slow (42knt). Great holeshot, but I think the gent that sold me the boat swapped out the prop before I noticed. I'm trying out a Merc Tempest 3 Blade 26 because I have one from another boat, but was curious what others are running and your WOTS on the prop?

There’s so much wrong with this post that I’m betting it’s not real.
First, that 250 SHO (VMAX) should spin a 22p prop to the limiter on that hull and see closer to 55kts unless it’s complete scrap metal. Second, Bravo II is an aluminum 3 blade prop. Third, if that is a 22p Bravo I and its junk, that motor should be bouncing off the limiter constantly by 3/4 throttle because that hull aerates water a lot. Fourth, the tempest is a waste of time. This hull needs a 4 blade.

The Bravo XC 20, mentioned above would be great on this hull because it was designed for the Stingray and Recon. Even a Bravo FS 23.5 would work well.

Hey Gilligan, not sure why I would bull**** when I'm looking for help? But as I said I'm looking for helpful feedback not pick a fight :) So went back and looked at the Props to make sure I had all the numbers right. I made a mistake and the current prop is a Merc Bravo I 4 Blade 20 Stainless and I'm getting 43-45knts on it. I'm going to try to find a Bravo FS 23.5 to see if I can test it out to compare it to the Bravo I. I did try out the Merc Tempest 3 Blade 26 because I had it, and your right it doesn't work well as it cavitates at the hole shot terribly.

Bravo I is THE MOST engineered prop that has ever been created. But if it touches the bottom one time it is smoked. Terrible choice on a shallow water Recon.
Rev 4 would be a good all around for mostly shallow water operation....
Gilligan's suggestions are spot on.

Take note yall....if you are ever going to be shallow avoid that Bravo I.... you will begin losing MPH with every hour of operation from the word go.

Thanks for the helpful feedback, I'll have to see where I can find a Rev 4 to try out. Similar Pitch 20-23" ?

The factory put a 20 pitch xc on it. My bet is your prop is wore out and 3/4 the size it should be. Depending how that boat is setup it should do mid 50’s most of the r24’s get way too much junk on them to be any faster.

I didn’t mean to come across as an @$s but there’s a lot of bot posts lately registering and picking up a post from an old thread and posting.

All of that being said, a 21p Rev 4 would be a decent prop. If that boat won’t hit 60mph (53kts) WOT, a Bravo FS in a 21p would work as well, but as Grem stated, they’re made of glass. 1 meeting with mud or shell and they’re toast. You’ll lose 3-5kts off of 1 ding. If you want to go fast, Bravo is your ride. If you want to go decently shallow and almost as fast, a Rev 4 is the screw. If you want to be able to set it in your back yard on a rainy day and do donuts, call Jack Foreman. His 3 blade (with more cup than the yeti your drink your morning coffee from has) gets it done and they’re tough.

All good! Thanks for the feedback
