I have recently spooled two curado's with 20# and 30# green power pro, tying a uni knot to 30# flouro carbon leader. After a couple hrs of fishing, the PP breaks at the leader while casting. I will preface that I sling the %*&# out of the bait when casting but I don't believe that it should break.
Am I wrong on this opinion and what are your suggestions??????

Does the line appear to be frayed? Is it possible you are burning the line when you tie the knot?
No, the line does not appear to be frayed, I usually do not reel the leader through the guides to eliminate damage to the knot.
With fire?? No, only cutting with a knife fairly close to the knot.

I use 30 lb. PP tied to my leader via a uni to uni knot. I always lick (moisten) the line before I tighten it down. This makes it slicker and you have less friction (no burning). I have not seen the problem you are describing, and I also cast very hard.

I meant burning the line while sinching the knot. The braided line can actually cut through itself and mono/fc if no lube (spit) is used.
