I pulled the T-handle on my system and wired in a pigtail so we could use the generator to run the aerator and to pump down while the power was out. Plenty of chlorine, so there was no worries about walking in the wet grass.
When the power came back to the neighborhood, my first clue was the sound of the beeping aerobic systems coming back on.
During our long power outage, I learned that at least one neighbor was unaware of the limitations of an "unpowered" aerobic system.
"My toilets all backed up! My house smells like ****!"
He had a house full of evac'd neices and nephews and no idea that his "septic" was now just a big, but not big enough, tank in the ground.
