Possible sad news for The Big E for the rest of 2008

Very sad news about the Big E and the rest of 2008. It seems that they may cancel the remainder of their trips for the rest of the year.

I hope that they regroup and start up again in 2009. The service level of the deckhands, captain and front office has been outstanding. On the TBB '08 the deckhands loaded all of my gear, ice chests and bags from the truck to the boat and even upstairs to the upper deck. I didn't have to lift a finger. Now that is great service!

I have caught numerous fish on the Big E and have a load of memories that I will never forget. I tip my hat to the entire organization and hope that I have the privilege of fishing on their platform again in the future.

Thanks again to all of the individuals associated with The Big E and Underwater Expeditions. You have been a very classy act.

I didn't mean to offend you Jim. If you have no sense of humor, then I have no business with you either. Bye.

I agree with you I have had nothing but great trips on the BigE and was scheduled for Oct 2-5. I am very disappointed we are not going, but will be out there again as soon as they get things working again.
They are a first class operation. Thanks again to all of the individuals associated with The Big E and Underwater Expeditions.

Richard I will make sure a reef section is named after Jerry "Snagged" in the Corpus area. I am not a fair weather friend. Don't worry about the offer or retraction there of as I will not loose any sleep over it.

The first sections of the Texas Great Barrier Reef will be one near Freeport and one North of Port A Jetties. We will be applying for the permit soon. FYI.
Thanks, Jim. Jerry deserves it.
i have always had a great time on the Big E
Will UE get to book trips to this "Texas Great Barrier Reef"?
I have some great memories on the big e as well. I am hoping that my scheduled upcoming trip on the excel will equal those of the big e.
So I guess screw everybody else that cant afford their own bluewater boat?

Well, I will say what every other private boat owner in thinking - Good. Less pressure.

I know lots of people love the Big E, but I can't be upset that thousands of BFT and hunderds of YFT will live to swim another day (well, at least until they hit my popper  ).

Your refund will depend on your medical condition(s).

Don't expect the Big E back for 09. I've 'heard' she will be turned into a work boat. There's going to be a huge gap for party boats on our coast.
Peoples lives and family are at stake and no matter how someone might have been treated it is not right to wish the worst on someone. Business relationships have a way of taking care of themselves for better or worse as service and expectations warrant. However for someone to attack a person or persons while they are down is just not in my book. I do not even know this company or business but thats how I feel!

Well hopefully one day you will have friends that you care about how they are treated. I found myself with friends on both sides of this one. In this case you are right, the business relationship did take care of itself, for better or worse.

Exactly what is the deal that it is not conducting charters?

I am lost, sorry.
It is a work boat that was being used as a charter boat. I'm assuming there will be more profit in ferrying supplies and repaired equipment out to rigs for the near future than there will be in taking people fishing. I think.

wrong, that boat was designed and built to be a party boat.
it's not a crewboat or a supplyboat....it's a party boat that's going to used as a work boat.
I wish I could convert some of my old neighbors in Santa Fe from "Party Boats" into "work boats."
Yeah, you're right Gafftop, I just googled a picture of it and it is definately not a crew boat.
