nice marina, call the marina office if you want a transcient slip, I will post the # tomorrow if noone else does. fishing is great there offshore. Access is easy from portA marina, it is right outside the marina to the jetties and out to the gulf. you can park your boat at the lot at the marina too if you really dont have a place to keep it but most hotels there have ample parking.

Its good from the jettys out , depends on what you want to catch. You can be in 300' of water at 40 miles. You get out in deeper water you can have a shot at most anything. Kings will be close in. should be some good trolling around the structure. There should be some weedlines formed by now and maybe have a chance at dorado and wahoo. with the bluewater in so close there maybe some sails moved in. Just depends on what you want to catch. I'll be there this weekend, I'll post a report.

Port Aransas

I keep my boat at the Macport Marina and from there I take it to Port Aransas. I use the marina when I'm staying in Port A for a few days. Only had one problem in a year with a bait bucket stolen out of my boat overnight, but that was when I was slipped near the public boat launch. Since then, I have slipped closer to the permanent slips without any problems. The Shark Reef Resort is close, friendly, inexpensive and clean. It runs about $50 per night. Bait can be hard to find if you want to head out in the early mornings so plan ahead as nothing other than the Circle K is open before 6am. Woody's seems to have the best quality bait and most helpful staff.

If there on a weekend, make extra sure that everything is up to regs as you are likely to be stopped by either the CG or Game Wardens.

If staying overnight at the Marina, I believe it is $12 per night.

Do a google search for Port Aransas, and you will find tons of information.

What's the status of Island Moorings Marina?

Another option is (or used to be, at least) Island Moorings marina. Little out of town, located next the the airstrip just south of Port A.

Last time I was down there the channel had silted up again, but they swore they were going to be back up and running soon. Anyone know what's going on with them now?

Channel to Island Moorings Marina

The Channel is open. We have our 37 footer there and have no issues coming in or out. There are bigger boats than that and they are using the channel with no problems. They do have transient slips available.
