Got into Port A late Thursday. On the water by 6am friday-left the jetties at 630 headed for Baker. Stopped off at double yellow to find bait and found none. Trolled a couple of laps around the rigs and nada. Headed on out to the Baker rigs. 1st pass big baracuda. Nothing else on the troll. Dropped some squid down and Ed hooks some type of yellow tailed jack? While reeling him to the boat 3 wahoo come in for closer inspection and one starts to mack down on the fish.
Ed let him run off with it and set the hook. Had him on for a few minutes and he cut the line right at the motors and jumped out of the water and splashed Ed.
Well, we scurry around and switch to wire, but the hoo were gone. There were some scattered weeds around that we trolled but nada. headed over to the rocks and dropped some squid down. That is where the fun begins, Dorados in the 3-5 lb range light up and the game is on. We caught 12 dolphin on that one drift. Cleaned Blood for a while and set up for another drift, WE caught 3 nice snapper 8-14 lbs. It was getting late headed in and cleaned fish.
SAturday, we decided to hit the South Baker rocks and then the rig, caught a small amberjack and a nice cubera snapper ( I think). Move back to
north baker and caught a couple of snaps and had several toothy critters make minced meat of my 60lb flouro. leaders. Tally for Sat. 3 snapper.

It was an absolutely beautiful weekend to be on the water. Kind of weird it was the first time that trolling was not productive at all (except for Baracuda)
We also had a hard time making bait. Only had one throw back snapper, all the rest were really nice fish. Put the Boat on the trailer sunday and realized that I had knocked off one of those Cheap *** Plastic thru-hulls. Didnt have much water get in the boat. (Lucky) Will have to put an inspection port in the side of the fish box to get to the thru hull.
We'll be back in a couple of weeks to try again. Sorry for the long report.

Sounds like y'all didnt do too bad either. We were hoping for some larger dorados but those were larger than the chickens we usually catch.
Andy, I think we saw you at the ramp Friday night getting ready to put the boat in .

Yeah, we trolled 3 or 4 different broken weed patches with no luck and decided to hit the rocks and that is where we did the best. I need to get in better shape, 24hrs on the water in 2 days will certainly wear you out. I trailered the boat back to Canyon lake to get the thru hull fixed. We will be back down there from july 29-31st. Cant wait.
