I only go camping about twice a year and usually use a tent when I go. This year the wife of the buddy I usually go will be 7 months pregnant and we both think she should have some access to a place to cool off.

Can anyone recommend a good place to rent a Pop-Up Camper? Any help would be appreciated.

I would check with the campsite or park you are going to and see if they have some available already there. If not maybe pick one up in a town close to the park instead of dragging it from home and back. Anything to save a little gas these days.

Thanks Rick, I'm actually heading out to a ranch in Roosevelt. There is another ranch that we could stay at but its about 20 minutes away and that would "take away" from the camping part of it, so I was told.

Maybe I'll just buy a window unit and stick it in our tent.... haha

We did this at last year's dove hunt. It was in Sept. and still plenty warm outside. The group of guys I went with have been hunting the same lease for something like 20 years so they were pros at setting up the camp sight. Pretty much everyone had a small generator and a window unit a/c in their tent. It worked great and I slept like a baby. Definately makes for comfortable camping if you have a small generator that you can run all night. Just stick it (the window unit a/c) through one of the windows from the outside of the tent and seal the tent around it as best a possible. Also helps to retain the cold if you throw a big tarp over the tent and stake it down. Makes for a nice little igloo, lol.

That does work...but make sure the generator is WELL away from the tent and downhill, if possible.

If it is a state park, you won't be able to run the generator, but on a ranch with no one else to complain....go for it. You need to rent a "low noise" generator, like a Honda EU model.

Terry Vaughn RV's used to rent pop ups. However keep in mind. It will only reduce the internal temperture about 15 degrees. so on a hot 100 plus degree day you still won't be very cool. But at night it works fine. Might want to think about renting a hi-low brand trailer. pop up with hard sides. Good luck and have fun!

I love the window unit in my tent. Bought the 5000 btu on sale at Target for $65 and stuck it in my tent off to one side. The tent that I have has windows that you can zip up close to the unit. Run it with a Honda EU2000 generator (Quiet) and sleep great! Even did a little video of it on youtube.

Spring Cypress RV might have what you rlooking for. I rented a rv camper from them this summer and they also had pop-ups. I also there is a place on hwy 290 that rents them as well. Might google: houston rv rental and see what pops up.
