now that hurricanes is over many people will store their plywood in garage for next hurricane season. while this action may be innocent by itself , it will create home for large red roaches . In one case we sprayed over 800 of them living in-between the ply wood and we killed them using wasp spray which kills them instantly . come March , you know if you have a problem as most bugs are inactive during fall and winter .

I imagine spraying bug spray on plywood would slow them down .

That's exactly why I have a bug man contract. Man, I hate roaches. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing too many of the small, nasty, "your house is a pigsty" roaches (except at work). But, I have seen the occasional "water roach". The "fear" of these things makes me feel comfortable writing that $60 check every 4 months. Thank you Mr Bug Man.

There are a LOT of things that attract roaches...especially those big tree roaches we have in Texas. One of the biggest attractants (that I've noticed) is yard mulch. I see 1-2 of those big buggers a week and they are coming from the yard mulch.

I used cut to fit 20 Gauge G-90 corrugated galvinized roofing tin for hurricane window cover when I lived in Portland, Texas. Much easier to store and handle. I pre-mounted stainless studs around windows and doors to mount these sheets on with big wing nuts using a wing nut driver on a hand drill. Cut the tin with a metal cutting blade my jigsaw. I sure would recommend it to anyone looking to prepare for the next storm. If your windows are small you could get by with a smaller gauge (ie higher number). I also built a two braces for my garage doors.

No rot and no roaches and easy to install.

Hardware Purchased from here:

No joke, I dont see to many around my place, but when I pulled out my pre-cut window boards there were 5 to 6 roaches between each sheet. Glad my wife wasnt there, I would of had to ride out the hurricane in a psych ward.

The roaches are using the plywood spaces for a rest area between feedings. Place (2) 2x4 blocks under the standing plywood edges to get the plywd off the floor (and any other boards and wood sheets) will help your grief to somewhat and look around and locate their food sources like the dog or cat dry feeders. Spray periodically 'BlackFlag' the floor corners of all the garage doors to the yard. Roaches run the floor corners and babies and four legged ones don't. This method helped my same situating a lot.

Demon WP

I use Demon WP around the house and storage shed. You won't have a problem with roaches using this stuff. I get mine at the feed store or exterminator supply. I've had great results for years using it.

It comes in small packs that dissolve in water in your sprayer. You can use it inside the house also.
