Where are you staying? What kind of boat are you needing and how many people will be fishing? I just got back from there and fished for a full day. We fished with an outfit that was pretty good. It was www.chartermexico.com. Let me know if you want the details on the deal I cut with them.

The panga's are a rip off. I took out some 30' panga and all I did was catch little yellow tail for the guy's dinner and bait the next day. Thier gear consisted of big spinning gear with 30lb test on ugly stick casting rods. Just being out there on that water almost made it worth while. You may be able to get some gear off ebay and trade it for a trip. They said that gear was super expensize down there

Try, Capt. Ricks if you want to catch some sails. There in Puerto Aventuars ,about 10km away. He will have you catching fish about half a mile from the beach. Yes gear is pricie down there and they are will to do some trading if you brings some tackel you wand to part with. I all ways tak them a new cd player (bom box ) and some of the lates cd . Try flying another hour to Costa Rica. Just kidding, but kind of serious. I am curious how the fishing is there though. I am working fairly close in the Bay of Campeche

Whena are you going?
The springtime and early summer is their sail season down there. From what I heard, you can have double digit hook-ups with sails on a good day. My fiance and I went out last Sept. when we were down there. Went with an outfit that the Funjet vacation people set up. Tourist trap type deal but we did catch a few fish. In a 4 hour charter we landed probably 6 or 7 decent sized bonita, a 20# dorado, 2 20# cudas and lost 3 or 4 knockdowns (either cudas or kings). We were fishing out of their "good" season so I couldn't complain for the price. I think we paid $60 or $70 per person. We were on a 35' or so beat up old Bertram. Only one engine was working and the controls and steering wheel were about corroded to nothing. But, you only had to get out of the cut in the reef and you were in 100+ feet of blue water trolling. We stayed at the Iberostar Quetzal and the fishing docks were 10-15km north of there back through a rough jungle road. The name escapes me at the moment.Cat O' Lies said:

Beware if you get a massage at your resort... I paid for a 20 min shoulder massage and got a full body happy ending massage instead...

What's the point of that when all they do is troll 400 yards of Playa del Carmen coastline like everyone else down there.
