Several of y'all warned about the Jag and advised extreme caution. Extreme caution was taken, believe me! Still, it was a fine looking deal. Robyn had researched the VIN and found that the car had a clean bill of health. No problems in the past. The guy that had it, got away from it just in the nick of time. Poor Robyn never got to make a payment on it. She did, however, have the privelege of spending nearly $3,000.00 on it for everything from a tail light assembly to motor for rear right window, Throttle body, and the straw that broke the camel's back was when we went out to Momentum Jaguar on HWY 59 just north of the beltway, to pick it up after the window motor rip-0ff ($1600.00) the service guy told her that she was going to have to spend over a grand to get new hydrolic hoses on the convertible top mechanism and that she should not use the top until she gets that fixed.

She looked at him and said, "Well, SOME one may spend that kind of money on it but it is NOT going to be me!" She looked at me then and said, "Well, that about does it for me. I'm going to go over to Sterling McCall Lexus and see what they have for me."

She was serious. Sterling McCall is just up the block and we went straing over there. I told her she was going to take a hosing on the deal because she wasn't going to get nearly what she paid for the Jag. She said she didn't care. She didn't trust the Jag anymore and never wanted to see it again.

Below is a pic of the Jag, just to refresh y'all memory and a few of her new, 2004 Lexus SC 430, Peble Beach Series. They only made 400 of the Peble Beach Series cars and they are awesom. I can't begin to tell you all the goodies it has but a couple of major items are the Satelite navagation system. She pulls up a computer screne, enters the address, and gets a map right to the door. The sound system is unbelievable! When you put the car in reverse the side mirrors point down so you can see the lines of the parking spaces on either side of the car. There are alarms for low tire pressure, low fuel, low oil, low coolant. Whooo-Eeeee just too many things to name!

It has a 4.3 liter V-8 with awesom power. Don't know how fast it will go but it has a speed0meter that is graduated up to 180 mph. I never thought that there could be a care that handled better than the Jag but this baby makes the Jag feel like Pams mini-van. This thing is a real monster. The hardtop convertible is soooo cool.

Anyway Robyn is safe now and she got skinned a little bit but the folks at Sterling McCall were great. They helped her a lot and even though she had a sizable negative equity, and lost some money, She is happy and relieved to be out of danger and in a safe and HOT/COOL new car.

All's well that ends well, eh?

One Thing About Sterling McCall.....

Doc Davis bought his Toyota Tundra TRO Off Road from Sterling McCall. They come out to his house and tune-up his truck, and have performed repairs including replacing a light bulb and all but washed his dam* truck for him. He has got some special features like refrigeration for his medical veterinary Rx. Uh Oh, I forgot. I'm sorry, I think you have to make $600,000.00 a year or more for this service. Nevermind. I'm so embarrassed, nobody on TTMB....nevermind. Congrats. WJ's daughter Dr. ? Very nice car. Can I start over and go back to High School and study harder and become a Doctor? It's true.

Sincerely, Jack, I know how very proud you are of your daughter. All the very best goes to the ones who have worked the hardest for what they deserve. I'm going to win this d*** lottery one day soon and I'm going to buy you and me a new...what ever we want...you whipper-snapper! Watch and see. ComeFrom?

The VIN # lookup will not tell you whether or not the engine needs a tune up or the convertible top is going out. Correct me if I am wrong, I think it is only good for letting you know if it has been flooded or major maintenance retries and engine failures. Anyway, cool 2 seater. When she gets married and has a family she'll lose out again upgrading to a 4 door.

Most Mercedes and BMWs come with free scheduled maintenance, so I would think that most people would get the maintenance done if it was free. Since a Jag is basically just a Ford Contour, I would never consider buying one. Over 75% of the parts on the newer model Jag are the EXACT same parts used on the Contour...What a rip!

Wow, that Lexus has a higher base than I thought...

Mine is a '04 F-250 Super-Duty CrewCab Lariat FX4 diesel with basically every option offered (including Torq-shift tranny, tow package, etc.), except the King Ranch and Titanium package. Sticker was $51k and some change. If I remember correctly, I think the sticker on the base F250 CC diesel XLT was around $40k, without 4WD, leather, etc.

Invoice on mine was around $40k, and I paid about a grand back of invoice, or just under $39k.

I love it! Makes the 7.3L feel like a 4-banger, and is quieter, too. My best friend drives the 7.3L and couldn't believe the power and quickness mine has when he rode in it. I've heard stories of people who have had problems with the new 6.0L, but most of the problems I've heard about were on the early '03 models, with the C94 injectors. I think they replaced those injectors in June or July of '03, and I haven't heard of any major problems with the motor in vehicles manufactured after that date...keeping fingers crossed! ;)

Before getting this diesel, I always wanted one, but never needed one, or cared enough about it to pay the extra money. Now that I've had it though, I doubt I'll ever go back to a V8. It would be like going from a Ferrari to a Volkswagen (and losing gas mileage in the process)!! :D
