How are your older Gulf Coast doing today?

With the price of 'NEW" boats, I just cant pull the trigger on a new one. However, I did find a 20 year old 22' that I really like at a pretty good price. I'm prepared for the fact that she'll need a new motor one day, but right now she's still has a 2001 175hp Evinrude.

So for those that are running older Gulf Coast, how are they doing?

Literally in the same boat as you last year. Picked up my 22 Gulf Coast classic with 2000 Evinrude 175 and brand new Mcclain trailer for 12k. Couldn't pass it up for the price. Fixed a few wiring issues and it has done everything I have asked it to do. Only issue that I have is some decking delamination, some is due to previous owner drilling holes for cooler racks. Good solid boats that are still very popular around Sargent/Matagorda

2004 230 Variside - Hull and deck are solid. No soft spots. Solid transom. Always stored indoors. 2003 200 HPDI V-Max with 480 hrs. Runs like a top. Best engine I have ever owned. I toured the "plant" on Strawberry Rd in Pasadena when Mike and Susan Gilley still owned Gulf Coast. Not that I am an expert in boat construction, but the lack of any structural wood ( in 2004 ) was a selling point for me. There are a few pieces of ply wood strategically placed to facilitate the mounting of a T-Top or trolling motor. My daughter asked me when I was going to buy a new boat, I said I'm 62, This one will last me as long as I am able to fish. Even still using the original Sportsman Trailer.
