My daughter uses a pair tennis balls to slow down her border collie. And those anti-slip pads do the trick for keeping the bowl from sliding too much.

that's an excellent idea for anyone that has deep chested breed of dog. Bloat is a very serious life threating condition and can be caused by eating too fast.
