Stan, Dad and I drove from Seabrook to Gonzales Louisiana to pick up Stan's Father Ben at the local Regional Airport (Ben owns a plane and flew in from Huntsville Alabama). From there we headed south through New Orleans down to Venice. The destruction was beyond description.

The next morning we meet up with our Guide, Capitan Eddie and headed down the Mississippi and out into the Gulf through Southwest Pass. We stopped at the mouth of the river and caught a live well full of Thread Herring to use for bait, then settled in for an 50 mile run to a Drill Ship working in 5000 feet off the delta. As we started our first drift a good sized Blue Marlin crashed our baits and seconds later we were hooked up. Ben was first up and fought the fish for a good 30 minutes before handing the rod of to Stan. When we finally got a look at the fish we saw that a big Yellow Fin Tuna had beaten the Marlin to the bait. Stan brought it to the gaff. After that the Dorado showed up, and to round out the day a few more Yellow Fins were put in the box.

A great day was had by all.
