Broke the jetties around 6:30 and the buoys was off again, it was 3' to 4' EASY with a few 5's mixed in. Continued out at a slow pace. We managed to get 30 miles out and had good luck fishing a wreck with live piggies. We managed to catch 16 snapper to 8 lbs. 2 -15 lb. kings, 2- 5 lb. mangrove snapper, 1- 4 lb. lane snapper, 1 - 35 lb. AJ. Seas laid down around noon and the ride back was very nice, hit the docks around five. Cleaned up everything and headed back to Friendswood to recover.

Right about the buoy and the forecast for that matter. Supposed to be calm early and then pick up in the afternoon, well it did the exact opposite. Ran out of Matagorda about 7, greeted by the steep 5'ers and took it slow. Saw many boats coming back in. Went to the the nearshore rigs about 9 miles out or so and trolled. Picked up kings to 25#, and cut a nice weedline/color change while trolling, and picked up a few chicken dolphin. What started out to be a miserable day ended up not being bad at all, the water slicked off after 1.

Same here. Slick as glass in the jetties and then rough as a cob in the open water. A headboat (I think the Lady Anna or Lady Diana or something like that) passed us about 50 feet off our port side and nearly capsized us. I don't think they meant to beat us up so bad but it was touch and go for a few minutes there.
We caught some really beautiful trout at the Pinnacle. One limit of snappies also taken. We had a nice ride in at 1:00 and passed the game warden at the jetties. I figured they would stop us but they must have had other things to do.
