i would like someone to explain how our government can spend billions of dollars restoring countries which we've bombed to oblivion. or providing financial aid to Lord knows who. but when thousands of americans are displaced from their homes, fema says they'll furnish a hotel room for a month...has anyone tried to get a room in the houston/baytown/galv area? forget it...there are none available.

if they are an american taxpayer IN REAL NEED NOW, it makes me fume that those people have to deal with the level of bull corn associated with getting that help. this has always struck me as just plain wrong where our elderly are concerned...it's a disgrace to our country how the elderly must worry about getting social security or having their checks reduced. angry, yes i am.

i'm not pro-socialism. but it burns me that when american citizens need help, it seems too long coming if it comes at all. all the while, foreign countries are getting the fruits of our labor and taxes.

yes, i'm ranting in case you didn't notice. i've contacted my fed and state officials and only get a form letter reply telling me how many pieces of legislation they've sponsored/co-sponsored. i don't give a hoot about legislation if the bureacracy beast stands in the way of americans getting the help they need as opposed to space shuttles, foreign aid, gov bailouts of private companies, and the list goes on and on.

no apologies for this rant...and i don't want to hear how great this country is...i know this and respect the men and women who serve/served in the armed forces to make this country great. my beef is with politicos who are only concerned about getting re-elected or how they sound on the 6 o'clock news.
