I have a whirlpool catalyst washer that will not spin the tub. Makes a noise and the tub is hard to spin even by hand.

Looking for a honest and respectable repairman to come out and service my washer. Please reply if you know of anyone first hand.

thanks,

JR

Sounds like you belt broke. Check that little shop across the street from Valero on 35 and Orange (think thats the street). Just down from McDonalds, Taco Bell etc. I've never used them so I have no 1st hand experience.

I hope it's something as simple as a belt. I tried to open and get into it but I can't figure out how everything comes off. And the more I start removing things the more I figure I'd like someone to come out that really knows what they are doing. I'm pretty mechanical thinking but the way this machine is put together got me perplexed.

Check online for the owners/service manual for that model. It may help. I watched the Sears guy open mine one day and then walk me through it so I could change the belt. :D

Call Whirlpool

I had a problem with my Whirlpool washer the day of the hurricane. I called the 800 # for their service dept. The whole thing was automated. They scheduled an appointment for Thursday. A company from Channelview called ASI Appliance showed up just on schedule Thursday at 10:00 AM. The guy fixed it in less than 20 minutes and charged me the minimum service fee which was $89.00.

My washer was not under warranty, so I felt like it was a good deal. I would highly reccommend this route because Whirlpool will send a certified tech to do the job. ASI was very profesional and showed me how to fix it again if I have any more issues.

Good luck with it.
