KEMAH - Two restaurants were evacuated and some amusement rides closed Friday after a blaze erupted in the attic of a Kemah Boardwalk eatery, an official said.
The 6 p.m. three-alarm fire at Babin's Seafood House had firefighters from as far away as San Leon, Seabrook and League City assisting Kemah with attempts to extinguish the blaze.
Firefighters evacuated Saltgrass Steak House and Babin's and vented Babin's roof on the Galveston Bay side of the building, where smoke and flames were visible.
"No one was hurt, and we're not sure how many people were inside the restaurant when the fire broke out," Boardwalk manager Tim Anderson said.
All amusement rides next to Babin's were closed, Anderson said. The rest of the Boardwalk remained open, he said.
Firefighters were using two ladder trucks to train water hoses on the fire.
