I never fish in Moses Lake before. Where is a good place to launch the boat or kayak in Moses Lake? How deep is the water to fish in Moses Lake? How deep is the water in Silo and Windmill bayou?

It is safe to park the truck next to the dam? I am worried about people breaking into cars like in TCD.

You could launch off at the Dam. It's safe to park there from my concern. It depends where you are to explain the depth of the water. Around the dam it drops down to about 30ft. Most of the rest of the lake is 2-3ft.

wow...I did not know the water in Mosses Lake get that deep. I am thinking about silo bayou area. How deep it is over there?

The deep hole on the upper left corner of the map...what is the deep in area vs surrounding? Are there oyster shell, rock, or obstacle I should worried about in Moses Lake?

I don't fish Moses much so I couldn't tell you about the depth there. But that deep hole you see hung me a few reds last time I was there. As far as navigation hazards, they seem to be all over the place.

I appreciated if someone can highlight some on the dangerous obstacle area. I am taking my 13 year old son out for his birthday and dont want to get stuck. My boat needs only about 6 in to plane and 1 ft to cruise around.

I'm ignorant.. I thought you were only in kayak.. For the boat, the only ramp on Moses Lake is The Fish Spot. When you leave out of there, there is a channel that runs all the way to the dam. With that shallow of a boat you'll be fine throughout most of the lake. Hopefully somebody can show you on google earth where your obstacles are.

Launch at the Fish Spot
Follow the marked channel out as you head to the flood gate... Watch the left as there are reefs on the way out.
As you approach the gate go left, and follow the levee.(watch as you turn left as there is a small reef
Coming to the end of the levee get off the gas and putt in to the left.
Watch the sunk boat. Watch your gps/ff and you will see the deep hole.

I've heard of some people launching from the Dikes. As for kayak, you can launch near where the gates are but only if you have a lightweight kayak. Heavier kayaks i wouldn't recommend bcuz of the somewhat steep drop to get to the water especially after a long day in summer time. So use FishSpot to launch your yak.

I am thinking about fishing tomorrow night....does anybody ever tried fishing at night at the lake? Is there any light around the area? Are there PVC pipes showing how to drive the boat from the fish spot to the flood gate? Can you see the sunken boat above water or do you have the GPS coordinate to the boat (I dont want to run over it by accident).
