Co-worker and I left work yesterday around 4:30-5:00 in the RAIN to go down to Matagorda to try to catch some trout. We ended up going down 6 miles and fishing the south shoreline of east bay to find that the bay had overfilled into and almost to the windmill. WOW I have never seen so much water back there since the hurricane! My co-worker caught a small trout and a 20in red which we released, right around dark thirty. The water was suprisingly clear, nad the water looked like a mirror! I knew there had to be some Big Girls out there somewhere. I was right but just could not get them on my hook. We had not live shrimp but I did use a Berkley gulp shrimp and had a very nice blow-up but lost him or her shortly after. Was getting dark and we had to drive through water to reach the bay so we left and hit the bridge around 45min later and of course the bridge was up due to a barge. so I looked around and saw alot of action on the left side. Never hessitated to grab my pole! This time first cast landed a 24" girl and the very next cast a 23" fat girl. My co-worker threw a couple of times and caught a small spec. Fished for a couple more casts then realized we were supose to be home almost 2 hours ago. Just thought someone would be interested in the way gorda looked yesterday!

I was going to fish yesterday morning for a little while. Got up and it was raining at 4am. I thought I could maybe slip in a couple hours of fishing before the rain started up again but it was just wishful thinking.

I saw you headed out of town. Well, I bet it was you. Small 4 wheel drive pickup with a rod rack on the front bumper and some rods in the rack.

Jesse If you are talking about the swing bridge over the ICW it is prime fishing on the left side toward the locks however there are some big holes on the left near the bridge and some tricky currents, a couple of people have been killed there over the years so be careful if you try to wade

Yes, sir I know we have spent alot of time there and around the Island growing up. I stay dry when I am close to the bridge my brother-n-law wades between the pilings but I know better. I have gone through there in a boat spinning cause the current is so bad there! But the water was so high last night that the oysters on that side were under water. That is where I caught the fat girls.
