The first evening of the hunt for Nick was just like his fathers he had seen a bucks but unlike his father he held out. As you can see the buck he waited for was a wonderful trophy. It was early in the morning and this buck showed up before shooting light so judging if it was a true eight point proved to be difficult so all he could do is glass this buck and hope he was a shooter. As the light was starting to crest over the hills at the ranch it was looking more like this buck was a shooter eight point Nick would be happy to take. Then a couple of young bucks who went unnoticed tried to lock antlers and have a little fight. The larger buck would have nothing to do with this as he picked his head up from feeding and charged with strength to school the younger bucks on who was in charge. The smaller bucks stopped as quick as they started and the lead buck went back to feeding. It was at this time Nick decided to take the buck and light was finally bright enough to take the shot. Then the buck decided to stop behind a fence. To Nick's delight the buck quickly moved back out and started feeding standing broadside. Without missing a beat Nick squeezed off a round and it hit the chest of this magnificent buck. The buck headed out to the tree line about fifty yards out slowing to a stop. Then he staggered backwards and fell. It was a great whitetail deer hunt for this hunter and he was happy to be taking this trophy home. Nick Droege had a great hunt at the Ranch brought by guide Dennis White of Triple D Guide Service.

This whitetail deer was taken on the first night at MC Ranch. Terry was hunting a blind at fence crossing when shortly after being in the blind a young eight point buck showed up. This buck was enjoying some corn which was scattered on one of many routes on the 2,000 acre managed property. This young buck worked his way up the road and back several times over a half hour period before the next one year old buck showed up. The new buck was a four point with a hunger to enjoy the corn as well. Shortly there after a beautiful nine point showed up coming up from a draw to on the right. This area was proving to be very effective because it was a saddle between to hills with a draw leading in on both sides. This nice nine point started working his way up the wood line toward the other bucks. Just then we noticed a couple of does working their way along the crest of the hill opposite the saddle and kept on going as the rut was kicking off. These does just wanted to go unnoticed and most likely didn't need to get chased by other bucks. Then another eight point worked his way down the hill toward the nine pointer. Terry was glassing this new eight point buck and liked the body and antlers of this mature deer. After a couple minutes of glassing he decided this was the deer for him. He slowly raised his rifle and was getting ready when the buck turned broadside. The fired his rifle and the bullet hit and with in a moment the buck was bolting for the woods. Deciding to give the buck time to lie we all headed to the pavilion for a great dinner by the fire. After a wonderful Swiss Chicken dinner we all headed to the woods to track the deer and to celebrate in Terry's success. The next day Terry saw several deer but he was now after a doe which he downed the last morning of his three day hunt. We congratulate Terry Droege and Triple D Guide Service for the success of their hunt.
