Selling my 1995 Kenner 18V - I came across the newest model of 2015 Mako CPX - It has everything I want in a boat - adding a few things - Reading some reviews - several people noted they are not happy - but most seem to be on older boats - I would be getting a Merc 115 4 Stroke - I would like to get as many opinions - I heard they are just cheap made boats - wiring sucks ect,. But for the fitting I have picked out Jackplate - Trim Tabs - Radio - VHS and 115Hp - aluminum trailer - it tops around $35 - 36K
Anxiously waiting for input - guessing I am pulling the trigger in the next 30-60 Days - unless you good people convince me to go another direction
Thanks in advance.

Always interesting when someone asks a committee to recommend what boat he should purchase and gets replies from people not familiar with the boat he has an eye on plus competitor salesmen. I would not ask a Ford salesman to recommend what Chevy I should purchase.

I may be hard headed, but I always prefer to make up my own mind. Ask the dealer to help you contact someone who owns a boat like you are considering and talk to an actual owner.

So you don't ask the opinions of others?

I owned a 2007 Mako 241 bay boat for about 9 years. Went offshore several times and came back in with rough seas. Beat us up but not the boat. That boat went all over galveston and East Matagorda bays. Never had a single problem out of it. In fact I wish I had it back. Other boats probably have more fit and finish, but the boat served me well for a long time and a lot of fishing trips.

I don't know much about the Mako CPX other than after looking at it on the showroom floor, I think it is over priced, but that is just my opinion based on the fact I have the Frontier 2104. With that being said, if any one wants my review of the Frontier PM me. And as for my buying experience from Red Wing. it is very straight- forward. I would do it again in a heart beat, Ronnie and Fred and crew are very down to earth people.

I did not mean to hijack the thread, just thought I would throw out some real info and numbers on one of the hulls mentioned. I sell other brands, more expensive, etc. , but the Frontier is our most popular mid priced models and it's in the price range that was being discussed in this thread, and is a great value. We also sell Ranger, Blackjack,Parker and Gulf coast boats

I looked at a lot of boats before buying my Blue Wave. The second wone I looked at was a Mako. Just saw a lot of things that were not quite right. Not saying there was anything that would not function properly, just not as well done as it could be. That made me wonder about things I couldn't see.

Alant, nope don't ask opinions of others unless they have experience with exactly what I am considering. Maybe after owning a variety of boats for many years, I trust my judgment over what someone has heard from the grapevine. Any purchase would be for my use and not something someone else might desire.

Have no desire to criticize Mr. Redwing, as his posts over time have been very much right on. If I were considering any brand he sold, his word would be very much appreciated. He would not be selling anything he did not believe in.

The person spending his money with a particular purpose in mind is the one who should evaluate what fits his needs best unless he is a greenhorn which the OP does not appear to be. Boats are like shoes - what fits you may not fit me.

Ronnie, I am thankful that you are not offended as I certainly did not mean any offense.

The variety available is awesome and anyone who spends the time can find something which fits his needs. What should be avoided are the ones who state as fact things they have read on the net with no actual experience with a particular model.

I own the Mako 19 CPX with a 150 Pro XS and a jackplate on it. and quite frankly I love the boat I've been taking it out in this weather and it is an extremely smooth riding boat, but I also feel the 150 motor is a must, I test rode it and the 115 is not enough power.
