I am looking at purchasing an Extreme and would like to hear the Pros and Cons of your boats.

I am currently running a flats cat knock off. The shallow water performance is great at the expense of being rough as h*** and slow. I am mostly in Aransas bay.

Have anyone of you gone from a tunnel or cat boat to the extreme and regretted giving up the shallow water performance?

What are the true numbers that the boat will float in loaded?

Any other feedback would be appreciated.

I have a 25', but it's a totally different boat than the 22'

I need about 2 feet of water to get up in, if you're running fast way up on the pad it will probably run in 12" or so. shallow water performance sucks... like comparing a rifle and a shotgun. previously I had a couple different 19-20' tunnel hulls, and for what I do, the trade off was a slam dunk.

It kind of sucks not being able to get into places I used to, but I'm also able to run from corpus to port mansfield and back and not worry about getting beat to death in baffin and the lower laguna where the land cut dumps out.

This is my thought as well. I would like to be able to run from RP to Port Aransas or to San Antonio Bay and still be able to walk when I get there.

My experience on 22' extreme...runs dry and quick, good hole shoot needs 1.5' mininium with soft bottom to get up, easy to maintain/clean, low sides good for throwing trout in boat or any fish, looks good on the water. Cons, doesn't lile rollers, heavy person or 2 people in rear will cause some water to enter through scuppers, front hatch doesn't stay dry, hatch seals come apart after time, don't care for hatch hinges either, drifting in a good wind you'll need a drift sock. But overall it's a good boat which can take a beating, easy to fish out of for sure. Good luck.

12"vs 7"

Depends on which extreme and your use. We fish tournaments out of an Illusion and a 25 extreme. You give up about 6"s of draft and about 10"s in hole shot compared to an Illusion or other tunnel, but the 25 is a lot more stable and smoother than the 22 extreme. Neither will run super shallow, so I don't fish Brown and Root, but I can still fish nighthawk and the backyard. I'm looking hard at the 25 Illusion next, but it would have to be significantly smoother without giving up hole shot before I switched. The 22 Extreme is a rocket, with low gunnels, easy for waders to get in and out of. The 25 is better if you have longer trips, carry more people, or fish almost exclusively from the boat. Both are solid. I have easier hole shot with the softer bottoms in Galveston than I did with hard sand in CC. Your looking about 12" on plane, jack plate high, 18-22" for a safe hole shot.

I've ridden in a few 22' Extremes and I think it will be a major upgrade ride wise than your current boat. They aren't the smoothest riding v hull out but they are pretty good in the chop and their speed makes up for the decent ride in big rough water. Those boats are really fast with a 250 on the back, pretty much the second fastest boat out behind the SCB Stingray. Also they still float pretty shallow and can jump up in 1.5 feet of water which isn't bad for a v hull. When you think about it, you aren't giving up that much of shallow water performance, I think you will be able to fish most areas as long as you pay attention to tides and water levels. I think you'll love the better ride and the fantastic speed and won't regret it.

Thanks for all the replies. I picked up a 2013 with a 250 sho this weekend. It runs great, dry and smooth compared to what I was use to. The boat will float in less that knee deep water with me on the bow running the trolling motor.

The best speed i saw was 68 with full fuel and 2 people. Most of the cup is worn out of the prop so I was happy with the speed considering the condition of the prop

The only issue so far is a non functioning fuel gauge. Since the tank is in the hull with no way to visually check the fuel this will be an issue.
