2ft. seas or less!! just kidding. I don't think people really realize how offshore fishing can physcially wear you out especially if you have done it for 20+ years. I have gotten to the point that if it ain't 3 ft. or less I am not going. As they say, I ain't that mad at them anymore to pound my brains out!!

I have that same problem I think the 20 years experience just compounds the problem. Short of buying a cattermeran I don't know. I have considered buying one of those back braces for lifting heavy things I think Builders Square, Lowes, etc. might sell them. If not maybe a safety equipment manufacture. Think "How can I get my company to buy me one of these"?

I agree with spotsndots except for me its 2 or less as I can go tomorrow if its not 2 or less today. Even with almost flat seas I cant go back to back cuz of several herniated disc. WW

Nike wieght lifter back support sold at Academy. Good broad area for the lower back. I wear good new balance tennis shoes with extra support for offshore and it seems to help.

Booze is good temporary relief from offshore back pain. My feet hurt more than my back on long rough trips. Actually my whole body is sore from my feet to the hair on my head on those bronco riding days the gulf provides us. Some days my arms are sore just from hanging on all day long. I no longer go out on days when 6-8 are predicted. If the winds are over 20 knots, I stay home and work on the boat.

Perfect Solution

My fishing partner for the last 20+ years is a MMT (Medical Message Therapist) and there is nothing like a good stretch before the trip and then a good stretch and message after a full day of play on the big pond. I also ordered the mat from Sea Shock but they are back ordered until the middle of July.
