Black, chocolate, golden does not matter. I'm looking for a lab in the Austin area. It does not have to be registered as it is just going to be a pet for my kiddos. I love those dogs. If ya know someone, holler at me.

For a pet, why not adobt a rescue dog? There are quite a few labs available in your area...

Application for Gunner has been submitted!! Thanks again folks! That's why really enjoy this board. Great advice. I'll post a pic in a couple of weeks once they're through with all the paperwork.

We got our Lab from a rescue operation. He is great. I am currently training him to do things registered labs do in Hunt Tests. Just because they don't have papers doesn't mean they are any less of a lab than a high dollar pooch.
I hope you get your dog.

Following the link to the Lab Rescue home page I see that your adoption of Gunner is listed as a done deal. - Congratulations! :dance:
I wish I had known about these resuce operations when I plunked out close to a grand for a 10 week old pupper. (Not that I would ever trade her now, but I could have avoided all the puppy trouble (house breaking, chewing, etc.) and saved some money no doubt, as well as doing my new companion a favor. - My Lucy acts like she is the one doing the favor by letting me live in her house and sit in her chair!

My vet put in a call for me. He's been my vet for 10+ years and has taken care of 3 other Shar Pei's I used to own. Vets carry a lot of weight with those rescue places evidently. I called him and told him what I was doing and he called on his own to say what a great guy I was (vets lie like everyone else, LOL). Anyway, if you want a dog, have your vet give them a call. It cuts the time down by a hell of a lot.

I just turned in my application for a Lab. I had to put Alex down last summer and have not had the heart to get another dog. Well, I guess it is time. Thanks BG for posting the link to the Heart of Texas Lab Rescue!! Charlie
