I have a lone star pro platinum and love it. Got its first real test Sunday against some good size red fish and did a fantastic job.

I have fished with both. I own a Lonestar, but a different action than the one you are looking at. And I fished with a Laguna this past week in Mansfield. Both are great rods. I do like the idea of the recoil guides on the Laguna for durability. You need to pick each one up and see what feels best to you.

 

what is a recoil guide and is there a website where I can see one. Thanks.

Oh yes Laguna or Lonestar... we both make great rods however I think you all know which one I prefer!

I have the Lonestar corky edition and I love it. For wadefishing, it's the best rod out there.

Jode, What's the name of the new rod you are building? The one Chris Martin couldn't keep out of his hands at the Houston fishing show. I love my Texas Wader II's but I've got to try one of those new rods....

 

I'll vote for the Laguna Rods, those recoil eyes are the bomb, don't have to worry about chipping a insert or bending a eye out shape.

 

They are both great rods just choose whichever one feels best in your hands and its a win win situation either way.

 

I have three Laguna's and love all of them. Texas Wader I, Texas Wader II and Top Water Light. The problem is that you can only use one at a time. :cheers:

 

I love the feel of the Wader III myself.

I used to own a Lonestar Stealth Wader. I liked it when I had it, but I made the mistake of putting a Laguna in my hands. Now I have a Laguna Texas Wader I, Texas Wader II, Texas Wader I (spinning) and a Topwater Light. I sold the Lonestar. It comes down to personal preference, and try before you buy.

 

I have also owned a Stealth Wader (Corky Edition) at one time.
It's gone and I now own a fleet of Lagunas.
Only way to know for sure is to arrange to try them both
out and decide for yourself.

I have one orderd and have fished with one of there demo rods , best all around rod for topwater and plastic, out there , plus great people to deal with ....

 

I like that Laguna and Lone Star both have the "no frills" approach to their rod designs. I used the Corky Lone Star for about 18 months and liked it. Switched to Laguna 2 years ago. 4 rods later, I'm completely sold.

I agree with "Artys Only" above. The guys at Laguna really do add to the complete Laguna offering. Professional, courteous, and knowledgable....and Jode's okay, too.

 

both are great rods. Try and use them both before you buy. I am biased, I have 11 laguna's. Think you can tell which ones I like. My favorite is the Wader II. It is the stiffest of the wader series. Second I like the wader I.

Waterloo

 

Check out H&H's Backcountry, I have never used a Waterloo or Laguna so I cannot speak for how it compares with the others but I have been very happy with the rod so far and is very lightweight when matched with the MG 50.

 

I have the Laguna TWII and its a great rod... Planning to get the I and this new III I keep hearing about...

 

I have a III it is a sweet little rod for chunking plastics!! i have the TWI,JL redfish, and the III now.
