I have the same issue. Mine has been broken since about last October.
I’ve kept fishing with it, but know it’s not 100%.

 

I may have a brake assembly from when this happened to me. I will check later tonight or tomorrow and let you know.

How does the brake get damaged under normal use?? Not being able to get Lew's parts is a game changer, 13 had this problem a while back, not sure if it still exist. I'm back to using my old Core 50's, slick as whale s#%@. Apparently the Core 50's came out in 2009 but sure seems I've had them longer than that. It's the lightest reel I own between the 13 Zs, and Lew's TLL, plus it cast a country mile. Anyways good luck, post up results.

Yeah I just put new bearings in 4 curado E7s and a chronarch E5 . They are good as new . Even my curado 50e is still quite a bit more heavy than the lews light but you’ll pay for it with cheaply made plastic parts . I’m not sure how the brake got damaged . My buddy gave it to me and I found them broke off
