They are great. I have them on my trailer. No problems what so ever. Originally I had the sealed bulb type. They were a problem within months. I changed them out the first time they gave problems.
I've had the pipe light LED's on my trailer for the past year and a half with non problems. The owner stands by his product, and replaced a peice of the housing for free when I broke it and was just wanting to order a replacement. Check them out www.pipe-light.com
I bought the stock units at Academy about a year ago and, knock on wood, have had no problems since. Mine are mounted behind the wheels on the step so they get wet every time I launch.
I made the switch last fall. A world of difference. Bulbs on salt running boat trailers are a joke. They are unrelaiable, and a constant hassle. Sealed LEDS wired properly is the only way. I use the LED pipe lights, you can find them on EBay for aroound 50-60 bucks.
On my wire connections I solder them. Then I coat them with silicone. Then I heat shrink them (have to put heat shrink over wire before soldering). Then I coat them with liquid electric tape. I have never had one fail when done like that.
I've had leds for 2 years. While they only see the salt 4 or 5 times a year, they still get dunked 3 or 4 times a week. No problems at all. I've also been using the heat shrink butt connectors on all the trailer and boat wiring lately. They are the schiznit.
