I would like to tie up some all purpose leaders for both Tarpon & Kings for fly and light tackle. I would like to hear what other people are using. For fly fishing I get recommendations for everything from 60Lb Fluoro to 125Lb hard mono. For conventional it varies even more.

Also are wire leaders likely to injure Tarpon and will they spook the fish? What I had in mind is a 6 or 8" bite guard with an albright to 80lb fluoro. Any opinions? Or should I just stick to separate set ups for each species?

I have heard everything from 40-130 class leaders on fly. I personally would go with at least 60 or 80 on fly. Conventional I use 90-200 lb Mono or Flourocarbon in some cases. I don't think the fish on the upper coast here are very leader shy. I have seen them get picky down south. Good Luck!! The link to the Tarpon Web Site on the Top of the page has alot of information on rigging.
