Sunday my son (Tim) and I hit christmas bay about 7 a.m.. The water was perfect and we were launching with high hopes. We searched and searched and finally about 9 we were drifting inbetween cold pass and ernies bait camp and boat ramp in front of a little bright orange house on the south shore line. All of a sudden the water started getting nervous and bait was all around the boat. I was throwing a black/chrome top dog when it got sucked under. No big splash and I didn't think much of it because the fish was coming to the boat with ease. Then she surfaced and immediately my deckhand grabed the net and scooped her up like a pro. A 26" trout hit the deck and we were high fiving. Picked up one more keeper 16" and threw back a couple dinks and it was over. Switched to a plastic shrimp and pulled in a 19" flounder. Now I know a 26" trout ain't exactly huge but it is my new personal best and a lot bigger than most fish I catch around christmas and west bay. Tim didn't catch a fish but I gotta tell ya it's the first time in over 3 months that he let me outfish him. LOL
We got out of the water and ran home because the day was only going to get better because Tim's select baseball team had a tournament championship game that evening. So after a good nap we headed to the ballpark and the guys played unbelievably well and won the tournament. My buddy will post some pictures of the fish and Tim with his trophy. This day will be in the ole memory bank for many moons to come.
Fishin in the mornin and Baseball in the evening. Just don't get no better!!!
Thanks Woody for puttin the pictures on here.
