Minnows and Elec Chicken 1/32 jigs

Catfish, I’m sure if you baited out a hole you could put a whippin on them.

I run jugs and trotlines on Somerville off and on. Usually do well. Cats can be baited easily with soured milo. Crappie on brush piles in deeper water near creek channels are usually dang good.

 

Use to catch tons of white bass trolling.

 

My little nephews (6 and 4) are coming in from Iowa next week and we are taking them camping at Rocky Creek there on Somerville. Any suggestions on where I could take them bank fishing where they could catch a few fish?

 

Any updates on the crappie bite on Somerville? Heading there Saturday morning to try a few brush piles. This will be our first time targeting crappie so any/all pointers are very welcome!

Well we gave it a go. We got beat to our spot so we reverted to bass fishing near it and watched them catch crappie as we got skunked. So we moved onto another brush pile and gave it a shot. I think I had one bite, but I got hung up in the brush a lot. So no crappie caught there either. We did manage a channel cat on a slab haha, as we watched guides trolling for white bass. I threw crank baits and my crappie jig at what appeared to be white bass coming up to no avail. Move one more time to try white bass and caught a largemouth. At least we didnt get skunked, it was a beautiful day, and I know theres crappie in the one spot we really want to try. So it was a good morning!
