Looking at purchasing new casting rod from Laguna. Will be using fishing from a Kayak throwing plastics, top waters( Spook jr's, small skitterwalks, she dogs) and mirrolures. Considering the Texas LT wader ii and Latis Stick. Have been told Latis is great for soft plastics and smaller tops but concerned if Latis would be fine for medium size tops over 1/2 oz. Texas LT wader ii might be ideal for larger tops but how would it handle light jigs. If could purchase both would be ideal, but have to decide between the two.
Also, is their a big difference in quality from Laguna Liquid series vs their custom rods? Liquid series might be a good option as well.

I would say the LT Wader ii would be awesome for that application. I've got the Classic Medium, the Texas Wader ii , and the LT Wader ii and the Lt Wader ii is my favorite for chunking the size lures your talking about. I love all three of these rods, but love that one the mostest!!!!!!!!!!

IMO the medium liquid is a great all around action with enough tip for plastics, I have the 6'5" for wading and if I had to bring only one rod it would be my choice, I assume it would serve well in the yak too, great price point as well. Now from the boat I go longer. I would imagine the higher end Laguna's are even better.

Was able to get a hold of Chris at Laguna. Recommended the Latis, but also said the Tx LT wader ii would be adequate as well. Thought the Latis would allow longer casts out of a kayak with plastics and would handle the smaller spooks and skitterwalks.

Great guy to talk to and appreciate him taking the time to discuss options,

Their customer service is hard to beat. I ordered a Skeleton V2 from Academey since my local store in Beaumont didn't have any in stock and it was free shipping and I was pretty excited about it since I have a trip coming up and haven't been able to fish much lately. Box shows up yesterday about 1:00 PM damaged so I thought the worst when I pulled the rod out of the box it was ok but I noticed how heavy it was. I unwrapped it only to see they had sent me a 7'2" Mag Heavy Action and I ordered a light action. I'm not happy about it but made a few calls and got a bass fishing buddy who wanted it so he came by and brought me the cash for it and there was no big loss, I didn't have to worry about shipping it back or exchanging it.

About 2PM I decided I wanted a Laguna Liquid anyway so I got online and order it and get a response that someone will contact me withing the next 24 hours to confirm. No biggie, I will hear from someone tomorrow......about 4PM phone rings and its Laguna, we go over a few things and he says ok it will be there tomorrow. HUH? TOMORROW I ask? Yeah maybe Friday but you are in Beaumont and they ship pretty quick if you are close by, I will get it packaged up and sent out. Me still being skeptical thinks there is no chance I will see that rod before Monday. Low and behold sitting at my desk today and Fed Ex shows up with my new Liquid and its perfectly packaged and wrapped up, now I just need some water!

I'm a happy customer!

A 6'9" Slam Mag is the best all round inshore rod you can buy. Period.

I broke the tip off of mine a few weeks ago and I'm still mad at myself. That rod with a Core 50 mounted on it was a killer setup. Light as a feather, but able to take on upper slot reds with no problem. It's now a 6'3" Slam Mag and not early as effective. It still works ok for top waters but is ruined for plastics.

I need to get a new one. Isn't this weekend Father's Day? :D

Laguna is absolutely the best choice Period. Now, deciding which one is the hard part. As said before, these guys at Laguna are great and won't steer you wrong. I can tell you first hand, with the TX light wader II, you can throw a soft plastic with a light jig head or switch to a SS jr. and never miss a beat. Good luck with your choice and keep us posted...

My favorite is the Light Texas Wader II. I also like the new Javelin, it is a little stiffer. But I tend to like my rods with a little more backbone.

The new Liquids are excellent rods. You would not be disappointed with a Med Light Liquid.

I don't kayak fish anymore but did for many years. I would recommend you go with a long enough rod to reach out past the bow and stern of your kayak. I like the short 6'2" Laguna wading rods but I would tell you to get a longer rod for the kayak. When fighting a solid red out of your kayak it is nice to be able to get out over the bow and stern of your yak when the red takes off and goes around or under your kayak. I use to use 6'9" and 7' rods when kayaking just for that reason. Just a suggestion.

Team Laguna here as well. 6'2 6'6 soft plastice, spoons, small to med tops, 6'7 topwate special med. stiffer and a 7 ft classic .Med Light classics, Extreme . The 6'2 is so light with a Lews UL reel and can go from wading, kayak to the boat and catch em

Like 15 years old been lost of the truck to galvez causeway and ended up getting it back. Lost another guna that a fish took overboard at the jetties. Got that one back too.... be sure to put a name on your
