Planning a 3 day trip to Baffin for the 4th of July. Last time we were there the bait shop only sold shrimp (assuming nothing has changed). However, we want to get some live croaks, probably from Chorpus.

Question is, what is the best way to keep them alive? We will probably purchase them thursday night for friday fishing, and so forth.

Also, any reports coming out of Baffin?

my suggestion...get a 48 qt igloo, a big airstone or a couple of those big bubbler aeriators. Don't crowd them..I would suggest 2 dozen max...keep the water cool.

The guide I fished with a month ago would buy 40-50 dozen at a time in Corpus and keep them in an insulated live well mounted on the back of a trailer. Used oxygen to keep them alive for three days.

Definately o2 in a big cooler with some extra saltwater(get some empty Ozarka jugs) so you can change out the water after 24 hours. The waste from the bait will build up toxins in the water and that will kill the bait quicker than no oxygen. lol
