Suppose to be leaving tonight to spend the next 4 days exploring the the Deep Blue Gulf of Mexico. Even planned to slip into Port Mansfield for steak and a little fuel.

Mother nature is definitely getting payback for such a nice weekend a week ago.

It's going to be a LOOOONNNGGGGG weekend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least you've been out a couple times this year. I've only made it out once and that was to Tequila and was basically a dive trip.

I might as well stay up here this weekend.
My year to date -
Venice at the beginning of Feb - 40-45 degrees and a 30 mph wind for 3 days. Drank three days worth in 36 hours... 0 minutes fishing

In March we went to Venice for 4 days. Lost one 180+ YF and a million kings. We left the day the bite turned (they caught the state record).
6 weeks of blown out weather and last minute cancels. 5 weeks ago we had a great long trip.

The boats been at Krestas for a tune up since. It looks pimped again this weekend.

My grass is so mowed! My siding is power washed, the deck is sealed. It's so bad my wife is telling me to go fishing. Is it wrong to practice casting poppers in the ditch behind your house every other day? There is time to turn this season around, but **** it has been crazy weather!

Nah, I wasn't looking forward to the 4 day trip. No big deal. I can handle it. It wasn't going to be much fun anyways.

Now, excuse me while I return to the floor, curl up in the fetal position and suck my thumb a little while longer.

**** this weather.

LMAO!

Oops that really isn't funny......lol
Just wanted to add that I am in total AGREEMENT with the above.

Gonna settle for bayfishing in the rain tommorrow! Just not the same!!!
even if it was on a beautiful day, bayfishing is no comparo. I have made 4 good trips this year where last year I had made about 7 by now.
Frustration Management

You guys need to learn to handle frustration more better...For example, I plan to go to the boat after work like we originally planned, put the big tackle in the rod holders, load the coolers with 200lb of ice...and spend the rest of the evening sitting in the fighting chair with a bent butt in my left hand, drinking frozen margaritas with my right hand until I run out of ice. I will keep the weather radio on to help remind me why I am not at Gunnison throwing topwaters. And if it does slick out, I might even drag a few balleyhoo in the intercoastal.
If ya'll are looking for something to do...I need the grass mowed at home and need to build a garage at the beach house. Any takers? :D
Ditto. How about 20 canceled charters so far this year? ugh. Canceled Wed., canceled today, and at 4 pm I will most likely cancel Sat. and Sund.
I went out last week and had an OK trip. But this week I am not sure what I am goign to do. Cause last Sunday I broke the push rod on the mower and since then it has rained so much even if I do buy a new mower I won't be able to mow cause it has rain everyday this week and the water keeps raising. So I will probably either sit at Hooter or in the garage and drink beer.
Even for us boatless people it has been hard not reading the great reports. I have been getting so much work done I am actually going to graduate from UTMB. I only wish I would have found this great group of fishermen earlier in my stay at Galveston. I have learned so much and had a blast doing it. Now I just need to line up a multi day trip as a Ph.D. graduation present to myself. Does anyone have any suggestions on boats that do multi-day trips? The Akela is a little out of my price range, but is about the only option I know of. I was working on a trip on the margarita 3 with the hired captian, but the owner sold the boat and Terry now runs a different boat. The Capt John is not going to be a good option either, they are planning on taking 35 people on their 60 hour trips.

OK, sounds like we need to rally this weekend's crew and meet up for margaritas this afternoon.

Now that's funny. I have this mental image of boats all up and down the docks at the marina with rods in the holders and people sitting in the cockpits with margaritas in their hands and dazed looks on their faces as the rain drips off their noses. I guess a little later the vans arrive and the guys in white coats start gathering them up.

How many Rita's can ya make with 200 lbs of ice? Sounds like a good weekend but a really ruff Monday morning
Well bayfishing in gorda this morning started and ended ugly but the fishin part of it was awesome. Arrived at ramp only to see lightning and [email protected] 5:30....by 6am the storms had passed and cleared up. Topwater bite went from 6:30-11am or so! Arrived back at harbor to load up and the sky fell down and drenched me as I was putting boat on the trailer......wahhhhhhh!

Still disappointing seeing as hopes were high for some bluewater action. Can I put out the bird and chain in the intercoastal to go with the ballyhoos?? LOL
Golly I had fun yesterday! I listen to various "healed" broken bones and they tell me when to fish. Only problem is crawling onto the boat.
broken bones? Did you slip in the shower?

Nope! Old breaks tell you about weather years later.
