Back when Rita was going to come though, and we were preparing everything, I had a novel idea that would really put a damper on our post loosing electricity bliss.

For any of you guys that are like me, and either dont have a seperate door to get into your garage, or have somthing blocking it(tool chest for us), but have an electric garage door opener. Remember to pull the little cord and disengage it. We hadnt thought about it, and had the power gone out during Rita, we would not have been able to get into our garage to the generator and other items.

My little way of contributing..haha.

Also, radio shack has a power inverter you can buy that converts car cig lighter or car battery to houseld ac for small appliances, lights
