A 16N would be more than sufficient to jig in 250' or less. If you are looking to fish deeper than that I would look at the 40N. The narrow reels make your jigging experience much easier because you do not have to manage the line. It pretty much stacks evenly due to the narrower spool.

40N

I have a 40N on a Sea Magic rod from Serious Tackle,it is a really great combo and has caught many Tuna,I just wish it had eyes for a harness when fighting big YFT but FTU has a mount that bolts to your rod that works great.

The 16N makes around 22-25 pounds of drag. The 40N is rated at 33 pounds but they make well over that. I have broken 80# with the drag buckled.
