I am going on a private charter with Captain Elliott's on the Lady Anna on the 19th. I have never done any vertical jigging. Does anyone have any suggestions on what types of jigs to take and any other comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Vertical jigging should be done with a high speed reel (6:1 or better) and a good jigging rod. Williamson jigs will be the best bang for your buck. Check out this video for technique http://www.gulfcoastfishingclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=21.0 I have discovered that you really need to be in 100ft+ water, because with the speed of the reel you will be up from below 100ft in seconds.
