If you know of anyone looking for a temporary or full time job there is a job fair being conducted tomorrow and Friday (Oct 2-3) in League City at 100 Gulf Freeway North (NE corner of the intersection of I-45 and FM518) in the old Academy building. Interviews start at 9am and go to 6pm on Thursday and 9am to 2pm on Friday. They are trying to fill over 600 positions in the next 3 weeks.

The jobs are associated with an new operation called "Disaster Housing Group", a private sector joint-venture business that was awarded a HUD contract to assist persons, who lost their homes or apartments in IKE, in finding suitable housing for up to 18 months. Some of the clerical and admin jobs will last 30-90 days or longer, other jobs will be full-time though at least 2010, the duration of the initial contract. Full time jobs have benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, etc.

Most jobs are administrative (paperwork and computer based) but there are some 30-45 inspection jobs. The work will be in our Houston areas hit hardest by Ike. I think this info will be broadcast tonight on Channel 13 news. Most jobs pay at least $14/hr for clerical or admin and up to $22/hr for inspectors.
