Just wondering. I have a boat in GYB in water. The boat next to me (about 12.5K lbs.) is in lift/sling. When I look at the brackets holding the cables - they don't look real sturdy.

I am thinking 100+ mile per hour winds could really cause boats in lifts to swing/sway quit a bit.

Anybody have any first hand knowledge/experience?

Think about a 20' tide surge, you boat might just float away! Do you like your boat and is it insured? I would go get myself if I were you.

The wind is only one issue. The storm surge will be several feet high, (some say 16 to 22 feet or better depending on where it hits), any boat in a sling over water will be set free from it's sling and you can kiss it good by. Get your boat outa there and to a safe place...right away!

Went down LATE last night - 95% of baots still there. Due to evac no way for me to get back down and move. Tied up best I can, got all my equip off, etc...

Interesting point about slings/lifts - will be mess if boats start floating around!

Yanked mine out this morn at day break. For what it is worth GYB is a pretty good place for storms. It is the surge that has my eye. At this point to go get it would be a 12 hour ordeal. Good luck.
