Do any of you who have a Minn Kota I pilot have any trouble with the battery going dead in your remote ??
It seems like I fish one Saturday and the next Saturday the battery is dead
That's about $ 7.00 a pop each weekend. Just Curious

Are you sure its dead and not just losing contact with the contacts?

 

Something is wrong with your remote man. Mine is 2.5 years old and fish about twice if not more a month. Is it turning off by itself or is it staying on all the time?

 

Mines a 2010 and have not changed it yet.

 

You have a bad remote. If you are in the Houston area, take it by Gulf Coast Trolling Motors. They are located inside Fishing Tackle Unlimited off of I45.
They are a Minn Kota service center.

If not call Minn Kota directly. They will help you out.

I've had mine since August and replaced the battery 1st time a few weeks ago when the remote quit working. I always keep a spare battery on the boat. iPilot's not very useful without a working remote, not sure it would even make a good anchor thrown overboard. They really should make some kind of override switch to at least be able to turn it on.

 

Not trying to dog pile, but never had to change mine since I bought my boat Jan. 2014. Something is definitely wrong with the remote.

 

Same thing has recently happened to mine. Had original battery in since I bought it a year ago, but that one died last month. Since then, I've been out 2 times, and have had to replace twice.

 

Which remote? I have the I-pilot Micro remote and just put my second battery in it...and it is only 6 mos old

 

i also have a battery issue. the one on the lanyard has never give me any issues but I have replaced the battery in the wireless remote that i mounted on my console once and noticed last weekend that it is dead again. TM is less than a year old.

 

I did the same with mine & still had a problem. Turns out the 12 volt batteries were bad & had to be replaced. Costly, but solved the problem.

I had a customer a year or so ago with the same problem. His battery was dead every week or so. We finally figured out that he was storing the remote in a storage box on his console. Apparently bouncing down the road one of the buttons was being pressed by other items in the box. After replacing the battery and putting the remote in a small box by itself the problem went away. Try that and if it doesn't help then try Minn Kota.
