What I hear is that Rick may be on the verge of moving to a different area and as for Rex, well, I think he has give up fishin' and took to scootin'. I can't believe he is going to miss the flounder run. I know that the fall of the year is a great time to get some fine ridin' done but if I know Rex, he will make a comeback when the run begins. Y'all just wait and see if he don't! ;)

Ridin is a fine thing, and fall is prolly the best time, Last time I talked to Rex he had put close to 6000 miles on his VTX, the rumble of the pipes and vibrating stroke of the large V-twins is a wonderful thing, but it ain't like the ol rod bent in a question mark and the head shake of a really good fish on.... Guess if I wanna visit with him I will have to go ride beside him...LOL... Both the brothers are fine people, and I will always cherish their friendship, even if I gotta hunt um down to do it...... LOL

I saw Rex a couple of weeks ago....I was traveling west on IH-10 around Columbus or so when I noticed this white truck with a fine looking scoot in the bed of it pass me by. After staring at the bike for a few seconds, I thought it looked like Rex's and I knew he also drove a white truck...but I'm thinking to myself...what are the odds? Well, I called ole Rex on his cell phone and engaged in general conversation such as "Hey, whatcha doin'?" He said that he and a buddy were headed westbound on IH10 for New Braunfels...then I told him to look to his right and I pulled along side of him....we had a few laughs and then hung up. I followed him until I turned off to go to Austin.

So, I guess it seems that I've seen him more than any of y'all have lately....lol.

I talk to him from time to time at night while we're working. True, I've had more fishing trips to report to him this summer and that's pretty bad when I get more trips than anyone. Ya'll are probably right, he'll be around when the weather gets cooler and the flounder start pullin. I'll give him a shout to check back in and type a few lines.

A few years back, when SCA was cutting up POS shrimp boat number one, and volunteers were harder to find than money the day before payday, Rick pulls up in Rockport in his truck to help. He jumps out with a Sawsall, and opened up the back of his truck and put on classical music. I didn't say one word about it, good help is hard to find, and I don't care if they play classical or rap. But after a few hours, I finally got the nerve to ask if he had anything else, and he broke out the Jimmy Buffet. I was never so glad to hear the Coral Reefer band in my entire life. Yup, I miss both of them, but riding or fishin' or even cutting up POS boats, it's all good fun.

Thanks for the kind words folks

I really apologize for not posting as much here lately and I'll do my best to jump in here a little more often.

I'm starting to think y'all know me better than I thought! I CAN'T WAIT for the flounder run! If memory serves, I believe the only run I made offshore this year was with Famer Jim...the poor ole Vitamin Sea missed out on any blue water in '04. My main reason in the past for running offshore was to bring home a few snapper. It has been my experience here lately that snapper fishing out of Texas just ain't what it used to be. I can remember just a few years back that a run to Buccaneer field would guarantee an easy limit of snapper....no longer the case....bummer!

Anyway, yes I have been enjoying the scoot and I have pictures to prove it!

This is a run I made down to Galveston one Saturday this summer.

1) First stop after leaving League City.....San Leon at the site of TOBA fundraiser. This is looking north towards Kemah and it appeared to be headed my way....time to make a dash to Galveston.
2) After getting on the seawall I decided to get a shot of the falls in front of the San Luis.
3) About that time the hunger demons started talkin' to me so I decided to pull in and belly up to the feed trough. Here's the scoot right below the balcony.
4) This is a favorite place of mine to grab a burger and a cold beer. The place is called "The Spot" and serves up some pretty mean grub. Mushroom Swiss burger, onion rings and of course an ice cold brew.
5) Here's a shot looking from my table on the balcony toward the gulf
6) A pidgeon that decided to join me for lunch.

Oops...for some reason pics 1 & 2 came out bass ackwards

We need to make an early morning run on the water. We can take my boat, Thats easier than puttin the V-Sea back together for a one day run. I dont know what is going on with the trout in east bay. They are not in all the places that they were last year, looks like we will have to make a run to the pass. Give me a call. I went down and talked to Rick last night,he is doing OK but still has other priorieties right now. Lady friend from Alabama to visit him on Labor day weekend.
