Oats

James,

Oats have to be planted. If your place in Boerne has an area of sufficient soil, you can drop oat seed on it and till it under later this fall. With sufficient rain, the oats will come up during deer season and the deer will be all over them.

The easiest way is to bring 'em in is to set up a few feeders and check on things prior to the bowhunt opener. The ground will be decimated under your feeder if game is visiting, and you can easily ID what type have been visiting by checking the prints.

feeding them isnt bad, but I wouldnt clear any brush just to plant food. chances are you have surrounding areas/property for cattle which are open.. if you have thick brush, I would leave it alone. they could be good pinch points to hunt.

Get a truck/ATV feeder and throw corn on the roads, fence line, all over every time you leave the lease. Rye grass is also great for the deer when it gets a lil colder. we just throw it out of the ATV feeder like corn along the roads and dont even bother planting but try to pick a day or two before a rain.
