What are the rules and regs of having a house boat in the bay? Permits?, how long can you leave it in the bay? Dumping waste? Etc. We are wanting to buy one ready to go, or buy one to fix up in the near future. We enjoy over night camping on the islands around the Mesquite Bay area. It's been a long time dream to have a houseboat to do so. Any information would be helpful.

houseboat or stationary barge ?

You need to call TPWD in Austin to get a direct ruling, also if you try to stake one out there for any period of time , you will have to get the GLO permit and it is only for certain areas.

No waste Dumping in the bays...........

there is a reason why you don't see alot of overnight campers besides the skeeters......too much hassle
