Here's several examples of gelcoating and webbing jobs that I've done.
Gelcoat is the strongest coating that gives the longest life to floors that I've ever seen.
One of the biggest reasons,is that when you're done fishing, you just take a water hose to it.It not only cleans very easy, it DRIES so much faster then other coatings,it helps in the floors longevity.
I recommend a light color for the base, that's easy on the eyes, and webbing it with two colors that match the boat.
It aslo touchs up well years after its done.

here's the RIGHT way to do a transom.
If its a runabout style like this one you cut it from top of the deck, NOT the back side of the transom.
They weren't built that way at the factory, so why everybody thinks they can cut one out from the back and make it stay for any length of time, beats me?
After digging out the rotten wood you make a new transom from scratch.Fiberglass and clamp it in with special clamps.
Then refit the deck, do your fiberglass repair on it. that way even if you have any trouble later on, it will be away from the transom.
I've built boats with wood and composite. I prefer wood to composite. Will use either one. here's the thing though. Composites just like wood. There's cheep wood, and there's good wood. There's cheep composite, and there's good composite.
I can make a new transom that will hold up for twenty years if its taken care of. But if you want one of GOOD composite ,the price is going to be rather impractical, especially when you're probably talking about working on a boat that's 20 years or older
