I recently bought a 06 Hurricane with a 115 hp 4 stroke motor with only 57 hours.(so it says)
After a long vacation, when I started the motor, which turned over easily and purred, I smelled something burning briefly and then heard a high pitch "eeeeeeeeeee" coming from the cockpit, not the motor. Electrical? I see nothing charred. Any ideas?

Sounds like the engine alarm for overheating was the engine peeing?
Sounds like its about to take a dump...

Seriously though, if you cranked it and smelled burning it could have been the impeller burning up (no or not enough water) or the impeller might have been damaged and not providing enough cooling water and overheat

Have you cranked it again? Same results with the alarm?

Either way, when was the impeller changed last?

Thanks to all. Engine was overheating. I am such a rookie. Since I shut her down quickly, there was no damage. Lesson learned.
