yikes.. I have a 50" pioneer plasma also... they dont make them anymore so might be out of luck.... going on 5+ years.. hoping for 5 more

On a positive note Tvs have come way down since you bought that TV. There is always some kind of deal going on.

 

yep, I think I paid an arm, leg, and hand for it if I remember correctly.... recently bought my parents a visio lcd 47" under $1k at Sams... it is a great tv.

 

Last week I went to Sams and picked up a 42" lcd for $380, they don't keep the floor models very long and at this price I don't mind replacing if I had to in a few years. I did have the option to purchased a warranty but opted not to. Good luck!

 

Part of why I'm so mad is thinking how much I paid for this thing 4.5 years ago and all I got out of it was this! I feel like I should at least have someone come look at it in case there is a fix. Even if it costs $500 to fix it, that's less than it would cost to replace it.

Bad news is, I'm not patient enough to shop online and order something, I'll end up a big box store tomorrow after work paying too much again. Guess I'm helping the economy. Hey I know that sucks but let me give you a tip. Conns has an LG 120hrz LCD 52" HDTV on sale tomorrow for $899. That is a dang good deal And I am thinking about snagging one. Cheapest I can find one online is $1299 so you save at least $400.

Not the best TV in the world but better than the one you had and probable half the price!

i just bought a plasma 50 i paid 900 it came with a lg blue ray player , call twins tv tomorrow they are open and see what they say they are located 610@290, ive heard that when plasma go you are sol , but he told me that plasma was still the way to go even with the new led tv.

There was a TV repair right on Hwy 3 across from Muffit in that shopping strip.He hooked me up on a Sat.

 

So we're headed to Conn's........... Figure I'm going to go buy a new one for the family room, may spend the money later to have someone look at this one and put it in the bedroom, but right now I need tv, it's the freaking world series and football season, no time to screw around. If I remember right Conns don't carry the Vizio. Do yourself a favor and check one out before you buy.

 

just go get a new panasonic plasma...amazing tv. and cheap to boot.

Hey I just had this issue on a pioneer plasma all I did was replace the hdmi and optical cable cleared mine right up. Seems that the hdmi and optical cables have a lifespan so buy a good one if that isn't it it is the ribbon cable on the display panel about 65 to fix that :texasflag

 

I Googled "half screen plasma tv" and came up with this site. It appears that, at least in one case..the problem was solved by cleaning the upper vents with a can of compressed air. Lots of good ideas here from others who have had a similar issue.

I'll have to try some of these solutions, maybe I'll have to put the old TV in the bedroom to replace the dinosaur that's in there. Went ahead and bought the LG LCD 50" I'm not real patient when it comes to buying things. I work till 7pm every night so just running out and shopping around after work just doesn't happen. And I sure as hell don't want to have to go shop for TV's on the weekend when I could be fishing or drinking afterward at Outriggers or Topwater!

 

IF... any of those solutions help...please post back here so others may learn.
