What do you mean? If you are asking if you can use an older version of Microsoft Word (Word '97, etc.) on Windows XP, yes you can. If that's not what you're asking, clarify a bit...

If you have the program CD, you can most likely install it if you have admin priviledges. I can't do it at work because the PC's are, for the most part, locked down.

I have MS Office 97 installed on my home laptop that has XP Home Edition installed on it.

Good luck.

Ok the old puter has win.98 and the new one has win.XP. Now the documents on the win.98 has the needed docs. How/or can you get the docs. from the old(98) to the new (XP) puter? By the way thank you for the help...............................later,Dave

You have two things going on

1. Win98 and WinXP are just Operating Systems
2. Microsoft Word is a software program

Microsoft Word will work in both versions. Does the WinXP computer have Microsoft Word (or Office) installed? If so, there are several ways to transfer the files: You could use the brief case or you could e-mail them or you could use a pen drive (aka a usb drive) and a few other ways but these are the most common.
