Any suggestions for Kayak fishing around SPI. I know the area but it can take me an entire weekend to find fish. I am especially interested in snook. Any new Tarpon sightings or catches?

As for snook fishing in SPI..........well we stay pretty tight lipped about them ;)

As for launching a kayak....there are a few areas around the Sea Ranch Marina and Coast Guard Station area. These spots will be on your right hand side after entering SPI. There is also an area in Port Isabel (Mexiquita Flats).

A good suggestion would be to talk to Larry Haines @ The Fly Shop in Port Isabel. It is a small kayak/fly shop across the street from Pirates Landing & Marcellos restaurants. He can point you to a few areas.

Thanks 393
Larry is a great guy, I stop in several times each trip. I just hope the snook are loose lipped. How are the lakes off of Hwy 38 are they too hot to hold fish now?

I haven't heard too many reports coming from the HWY 48 (San Martin Lake) area. Mainly snook and reds caught in there. I haven't fished it at all this year.
